Telecom Engineer III

Job Function

    Pull Copper and Fiber Cable; Terminate, Test and download Test results. Must be able to bend conduit unassisted. Must be able to read engineering drawings.  Be able to work without oversight or supervision once task is assigned.   Be able to build material lists for the project.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES      

  • 1. Pull and lay Cable; terminate, test, and download test results on computer.  Be familiar with multiple Testers.
  • 2. Provide feedback to the lead or Telecom manager on any technical or client issues.
  • 3. Building materials list for the project.
  • 4. Assist in ordering and stocking materials for job.
  • 5. Ensure Daily Log sheets are completed by other team technicians. 
  • 6. Oversight of less experienced technicians, ensuring for correction in execution. 
  • 7. On the Job Training of less experience technicians.
  • 8. Able to draw red-line drawings of newly installed circuits which includes dimensions and pathways.
    9. Be able to bend conduit unassisted.

    12. Must own personal tool set in order to perform job.

  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES      

  • 1. End of day, provide daily feedback to Telecommunications Manager on status of job. 
  • 2. Can be assigned Team Lead of multiple teams of two and or projects. 

  • SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED      

  • Reports directly to TELCOM Supervisor/Manager; in the absence of the TELCOM Supervisor/Manager, reports to the Hawaii Operations Manager (Deputy).  May be assigned as Team Lead.

 

    Supervises:  As Team Lead, Telecommunications Technicians I, II and III.

    Regular Hours worked: 40 per week 

    Relocation is not available

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS    

  • 1. Understands and writes English; be able to complete daily work log sheets
  • 2. Be a team worker; usually works in multiple teams of twos or Team 3. Leads multiple teams of two and or projects.
  • 4. Is Experienced and competent in the use of computer and tester equipment.
  • 5. Can read and interpret engineering drawings and do red line drawings..
  • 6. Can building telecommunications materials list.
  • 7. Can do site survey; document survey; assist in cost proposals.

  • INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS       

  • The Telecommunications Technician III regularly interfaces with his/her Team Lead, Manager and team colleague (s) and in a Lead position, may interact with client.

    Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. in materials and equipment.  Be able to walk up and down stairs.  Be able to climb up and down to ladders that are at least 10 ft. high.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS        

Must be able to obtain Secret Clearance for work on Federal Government installations.

Education

H.S. diploma (GED acceptable) and BCSI certified
