    JOB SUMMARY

    The primary scope of the Analyst working on the Object Identification Team (OIT) involves utilizing the Army Management Information System (USAMS/AMIS) to maintain the records of the US Army Museum System’s collections management database.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Examine existing records from a specific museum’s database in order to correct errors, standardize information, and ensure that the record represents a thorough and accurate description of the associated historic object.
    2. Identify objects as thoroughly and as accurately as possible while maintaining the standardized nomenclature developed in conjunction with the Center of Military History’s Collections Branch.
    3. Conduct all necessary research to ensure that the records comply with the standards established by CMH and with Army Regulation 870-20.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    4. Perform other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

    Reports directly to Team Lead; in the absence of the Team Lead, reports to the Project Manager.

    Salary: 40-45K

Requirements

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

    * Knowledge of US Army history, modern military history, military material culture, and/or US Army material culture
    * Knowledge of database management and collections management
    * Strong attention to detail
    * Ability to work independently
    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    * Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

    INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS

    The Military Collections Analyst regularly interfaces with employees, vendors, and clients.

Education

Education: BA degree required; MA preferred; requires security clearance and US citizenship

Experience: Museum collections management and/or curatorial experience required along with knowledge of military history, American history and/or military material culture preferred; previous part-time or volunteer museum experience applicable. Prior military service and/or work in a military museum desirable.
